The aim of EURYI is to attract outstanding young researchers from anywhere in the world to work in Europe for the benefit of European science and for the building up of the next generation of leading researchers in Europe. Commissioned by ESF and EUROHORCs, NIFU STEP has conducted an evaluation of the three first calls for proposals.
The questions analysed include to what extent the target group of the scheme has been reached, whether the awardees were selected in accordance with the overall aim of the scheme, implementation of the recommendations from the first external EURYI evaluation (also conducted by NIFU STEP), as well as the impact of the award on the awardees’ career development and the scheme’s contribution to the European Research Area. The data draw an overall very positive picture of the scheme, and also find improvements in the selection processes of the later calls.
