Statistics on research and experimental development (R&D).
The statistics cover both R&D expenditure and R&D staff. The data is collected ex post in the regular biennial R&D survey. The survey aims at quantifying the R&D expenditures, the R&D staff involved, and the R&D man-years performed by the staff. For the intermediate years statistics are partially based on survey data and partially on estimates.
In addition to these historical data, the R&D component of the state budget proposal is regularly estimated by reviewing the budget documents every year.
Included are also comparable R&D statistics from other countries, based upon OECD sources.
